Colin Cowherd says Alabama has âweakâ QB, not as good as Ohio State, adds Michigan is No. 1
Colin Cowherd referred to Alabama’s Jalen Milroe as “weak” Monday when breaking down the potential pairings for the College Football Playoffs.
Cowherd was making an argument on “The Herd” for the Michigan Wolverines as No. 1 in the country.
“What nobody wants to do is face Georgia or Oregon first,” he said. “No. 1 spot matters a lot. Toe to toe Oregon might be the best team in the country.
“What you want is that No. 1 ranking, so you can see Florida State with a backup or Alabama with a weak quarterback or Texas, who is very talented, but it’s Texas. They stub their toe a lot.”
Cowherd said undefeated Wolverines winning six games without coach Jim Harbaugh shows just how good Michigan is. He said there is no way Georgia would be undefeated without Kirby Smart. Alabama isn’t 11-1 without Nick Saban. “They were lucky to beat Auburn this weekend,” he quipped.
Milroe has a QB rating of 179.62 and has thrown for more than 2,500 yards and 21 touchdowns on the season in his first year.
Cowherd believes Michigan should be No. 1 for the following reasons:
- The win over Ohio State
- A first-round quarterback
- Went undefeated without a coach
- Has a better defense than Georgia
Michigan currently is ranked No. 2 in the nation in total defense, giving up just 246.8 yards per game. Georgia, on the other hand, ranks No. 9 at 294.3 yards per game.
Cowherd also believes the Buckeyes are better than Texas and Alabama.
